Jim began to write the story of his "Special' build..and the story got legs, became a smash of a first novel and God knows where it will lead. Don't miss it: cars, lakes history all the right names of the pre war, wartime and immediate post war, a little bit of sex and intrigue and excellent development of characters and plots that, well, professional writers can do.
About the Author
J. E. Pendleton felt compelled to write his first book from his love of family, automobiles, and history. Although a novel, many of the characters and facts are based on truth. He is working on a series based on the origins of World War II, what he considers the single most important event of the twentieth century. He resides in Texas with his wife and family.

Fantastic Book!

This book is a must-read! The author wrote an incredible story that appeals to men and women alike. Every detail is thorough, the characters are well-developed, and it flows in such a way that makes it read very easily. Whether you enjoy it for the technical aspects surrounding the race car or WWII, or are drawn by the phenomenal story of love and family, you will not be disappointed by 'The Special'.

Great historical novel

I really enjoyed this book. I ordered the Kindle edition and after reading it, ordered the book for my husband. I was not expecting to enjoy the car parts of this book, but was drawn in despite my lack of knowledge about cars. Loved the war history and the beautiful love story.

Great Book. A Must Read.

This was an awesome book. It made you feel like you were right there in everything going on. A great love story, but not mushy. Great family story. Loved the details in the making of the Special. Anyone who loves to read, I would recommend it.
