From Publishers Weekly
Armstrong (No Humans Involved) skimps on character development and plot in this novella, but makes up for it with accessible prose and a spunky protagonist. Deceased half-demon witch Eve Levine, now an angel, successfully managed to avoid employment during her entire mortal life, so she's not keen to spend her afterlife hunting demons at the command of the three Fates. Summoned from her vacation to settle a djinn uprising, Eve decides it's time to break some rules and get herself fired, but she quickly discovers that some red tape may exist for legitimate reasons. Readers hoping for more than a splash of romance or action should look elsewhere (one battle is summarized as I pounced. We fought), but the breezy, light dialogue has its moments, and Eve's reliably entertaining swagger will keep the pages turning. (Jan.)

From Booklist
Eve Levine—part demon, part angel, raised as a witch, former teacher of the dark arts, and current celestial bounty hunter in the employee of the Fates—is ready for a vacation. Unfortunately, just as she is leaving, the Fates summon her to stop some wayward djinn who are getting out of order. With their demon leader in exile and his minion possibly trying to stage a coup, it’s up to Eve to make them toe the line. Along the way she exposes plots and traitorous double dealings as she tries to get to the bottom of the problem before she can link up with her lover, Kristof Nast, for their long-awaited, pirate-themed vacation. This novella will primarily appeal to Armstrong completists, collectors, and, especially, to big fans of Eve, who has appeared in Industrial Magic (2004), Haunted (2005), and No Humans Involved (2007) as well as in Armstrong’s online stories “Escape” and “Expectations.” --Diana Tixier Herald

Eve is always a lot of fun
By Angie, When will those clouds all disappear?
It was fun to read. Eve is one of my favorite characters, possibly my favorite of the series. I appreciate the shades of gray that she and Kristof Nast bring in. The humor is strong in this installment. I particularly enjoyed the conversation in which Kristof explained his role of the hero's girlfriend.
This story is also meant to be important to Eve's character development, in which she really accepts her role as an angel, despite the way she is frequently jerked around by the Fates.
It would've been nice to see Trsiel. But this was just a novella, and it's worth reading if you're a fan of the series. If you're new to it, I wouldn't personally start here. I'd start at the beginning, with Bitten. Enjoy.

A Side Trip in the Women of the Otherworld series
By K. M. Martin
This novella is for fans of Armstrong's work. We get a glimpse into Eve Levine's world as we see her as a part-time angel and part-time ghost. She is getting jerked around by the Fates and wants to quit her job but is called in to find out why djinn are breaking their contracts with mortals. We also get brief glimpses of Kristoff, Jeremy and Jaime. This fills in a couple of blanks for regular readers of Armstrong's books.
