The tale I’m about to run down to you is deep, so please pay close attention. It is a tale that reflects a lot of what we go through today as being young men of color. We struggle every day trying to make ends meet, in a world that ain’t got a whole lot of love for us. We do what we can when we can in hopes of a better tomorrow, that never seems to come. We do what we have to in order to get the things we need, for ourselves, as well as our loved ones. Whether you hustle, pimp, whore, or pull heist, I feel you. It's all in the name of survival. I feel you because I am you. The endangered species. The young black man. Whether this book sells one copy or one million, it is what it is, only god can dictate fate. But if I can help somebody by putting my thoughts to paper, then I’ve accomplished something. To those who came up under me, peep-game. To my elders, I’ve learned from your mistakes, so your lessons weren’t wasted nor your warnings unheeded. To those who feel misunderstood or unwanted, walk with me, and know that you’re not alone. To those who feel that life has only given one option, there’s light at the end of every tunnel. I don’t knock nobodies hustle cause survival is rule number one. This book was one of the greatest books I have read in 2003. I mean I read it in like 2 days. I say this I hope a movie will be made from this book. K'wan is a truly talented blessed brother who tells the whole story. I have lent this book to several people and they are like damn, damn, damn.....I would advise anyone to read this u won't be sorry. I can't wait for his next joint to drop because trust me I will be first on line, rollers still in hair, slippers on that's right the first in line......wooooooooooooooooooo

I love kwan, unfortunately I've read this book long ago when it was published as gangland so I thought gangster was something new, if you haven't read this one I suggest you do so as all kwans books are worth it

This book was incredible. On the streets of Harlem there is a very bloody rivalry between the Crips & Bloods. St. Louis "Lou Loc" Alexander and Kenyatta "Gutter" Soladine are Crips gang members originally from Los Angeles, California but moves to Harlem after the murder of a dirty detective went wrong. Lou Loc wants to leave the gang life and concentrate on his passion of writing. He meets the beautiful and smart Satin Angelino who support his new input on his life. But there are circumstances that wants to see him fail. Gutter lives and breathes being a Crip. He wants to be the next kingpin but when he put into a coma following a shooting his future seems bleak. El Diablo, a Bloods leader, has return to Harlem after running from a murder charge to find the Crips are taking over. He also find his beloved sister has fell in love with a rival gang member.

Poorly Written

This book is so poorly written including typos and poor English that it is very hard to read. I chose this book to purchase because it is more recently written than the others. There may be very good information in the book, but because of the poor writing I am finding it very hard to get through. Do not waste your money on this item. There is a reason that it is only $4.99.

This book has poor grammar, and lots of misspellings. It's apparent no one proofed this book before publishing. Not nearly as informative as I had expected. I have common sense and all this book informed me of was my own common sense. I expected the book to teach me how to train my giant schnauzer puppy without having to go to obedience classes but instead every other paragraph in this book tells me to do just that, GO TO OBEDIENCE CLASS...very disappointing. Not to mention the lack of knowledge I felt I received from this book. It literally repeats itself word for word thru out the book. Same paragraphs are used in multiple chapters. This is not a step to step book on how to train a giant schnauzer by any means. Buyer beware...
